Roofs with sedum or planting on top of the membrane are largely a modern and growing environmental concept. That said, the Derry and Toms building in Kensington was given a green roof over 100 years ago. When it was refurbished in the 1990’s, Thornton Consulting were selected to test the new waterproofing before the finishes were applied.
When green roofs are installed, it is imperative that electronic leak detection of the waterproofing is undertaken while it is exposed. Once finishes are in place, if the membrane has become damaged, it can become costly and time consuming to resolve any issues.
At Thornton Consulting, we pride ourselves on our professionalism and attention to detail to ensure the test is undertaken to the highest standard. Where leaks have occurred in an existing green roof, we can develop a systematic approach to resolving the issue with the numerous test techniques we have at our disposal.
